I have seen round, rectangular, and even triangular voicings! Also, I was wondering what I am doing wrong when my ocarina only plays the high notes, and when it only plays the low notes. Your site has been very helpful, especially in understanding the differences between the mechanics of flutes and ocarinas (I play the flute, and the way the finger holes could be placed anywhere confused me at first). Your ocarinas are gorgeous (in appearance and sound), and your playing is the most astoundingly beautiful I have ever heard! The sound of the ocarina is so peaceful and serene! | |

I have been playing music for years, but so far I have only played brass instruments. I am currently exploring making my own ocarina and I was wondering if you could give my any tips as to what I could use to make my own tools for ocarina making. P.S. ![]() | Ocarinaには幾つかの種類が有りますが。 日本ではスイートポテトと呼ばれるOcarinaが主流です。 そのスイートポテトスタイルのOcarinaで穴の数で12穴式とか言ったりしますが、 基本構造は同じもので穴の数が多くなる事によって音域広がると言う所が違うだけです。 穴の数が多い方が音域が広がるが楽器としては作るのも演奏するのも少し難しいのです。 音楽経験がない方がocarinaを学ぶには何処かの教室に入るのが一番です。 ・・とりあえずこのサイトで独学なさっては如何ですか? | |

![]() | はじめまして、現在独学でオカリナを勉強しているものです。独学とはいえ、小川さん はじめ様々な方のHPやご意見を参考にしながら勉強していますが。 そこで、当ページにあります「小川式持ち方」を読み、とても勉強になり実践している のですが、うまくいかない点があるので質問を書き込ませていただきました。 問題は、高音域を演奏するときに右小指、薬指で支えていますがここで(C管なら)シ のフラットなどで右薬指がトーンホールを押さえる必要があるときにうまくいきませ ん。楽器を支えるのに使ってしまっているので移動に時間がかかります。 単に慣れていない、練習がたりないのかもしれませんが上のファ→シフラット、またそ の逆の跳躍がうまくいきません。ドのシャープ、レのシャープの場合その時々の指使い を工夫すればどうにでもなるのですが、シのフラットの場合今の楽器だとその指使いし か使えなそうです。 なにか良い方法、または私の問題点がありましたら教えていただきたいと思います。よ ろしくお願いします。 | |

Mine has two holes in the back for the thumbs and four holes for the right hand, and three holes for the left hand. Is this normal? It is tuned in F. I was wondering if you could tell me how to hold my fingers in order to reach higher notes than just the octave in front and the two tones that are achieved by releasing the thumbs in the back.
